Course Objectives: 

This course aims to introduce critical approaches of media and communication theories. The course will link the issues about communication and media with the sociological, political, economic, historical contexts. By the end of the semester, students are expected to comprehend theories of the field and to gain the ability to make evaluations and discuss the issues critically in the field.

Course Content: 

Derste, modern toplumun kuruluşundan günümüze dek dönüşüm ve değişimler disiplinlerarası bir yaklaşımla incelenecektir. Ana akım ve eleştirel yaklaşımların temel önermeleri karşılaştırmalı olarak tartışılacaktır. Dersi tamamlayan öğrenci, alana dair temel kuram ve yaklaşımlar eşliğinde, olgular arasında çok yönlü ilişki kurarak, eleştirel bir çözümleme yetisi geliştirecektir.
