This seminar course is designed as an advanced interdisciplinary writing course emphasizing critical reading and thinking, argumentative writing, library research, and documentation of sources in an academic setting. The course will provide students a strong foundation toward a successful completion of a graduate degree in various branches of communication studies. The course will emphasize the practice and study of selected rhetoric of inquiry that are employed in communication studies. It will also emphasize preparing students for different systems of writing in their academic lives. Students will be expected to perform at graduate level standards in: 1) writing for an academic audience; 2) thinking and arguing critically; and 3) analyzing and synthesizing published research.
