This course builds upon knowledge gained in Turkish Cultural Anthropology I and focuses on understanding daily customs and non-material cultural elements.
The Pre-Islam Turkish culture and the Eurasian steppe culture formed in Central Asia and Siberia will be reviewed on the basis of the archaeological data and ancient written sources. In this context, the old Turkish ethnic identity, social and cultural structure, management style, production and consumption patterns, family structure, kinship relations will be discussed. Moreover, issues such as education, science, commerce, diplomacy, urban culture, women's place in Pre-Islam Turkish society will be evaluated. (This course is Turkish only).
