About the Department
The History Department offers a Masters Degree program in English for students of various disciplines. Areas of study include Turkic, Ottoman, Modern Turkish, Eastern Mediterranean and Middle Eastern studies.
Candidates who pass the written and oral exams are admitted to the program and are required to complete 24 credits in order to graduate the masters program with thesis. In order to graduate from the masters program without thesis, the candidates are required to complete 36 credits. Those who are not admitted to the masters program with thesis can graduate the program by taking an additional elective course in lieu of HIST 502 course, along with four additional elective courses.
Seminars and Thesis are non-credit. Our students will take two compulsory courses and two electives every semester, complete their theses successfully. At the end of one academic year, they will obtain their diplomas. Candidates who are not considered qualified by the Evaluation Jury on the basis of Scientific Preparation Level will be admitted to the program, provided that they take and pass the undergraduate courses which suit their own areas of interest.

Terms Application
- Bachelor's degree or recognized equivalent from an accredited institution.
- For Research Master’s degree programs (Master’s degree programs with thesis), the minimum required ALES score is 55. (Test results older than five years from the date of the application are not valid and will not be accepted).
- For English language proficiency, the minimum required YOKDIL,YDS E-YDS score is 55 (Test results older than five years from the date of the application are not valid and will not be accepted).
For English language proficiency, the minimum required TOEFL IBT score is 66 (Test results older than two years from the date of the application are not valid and will not be accepted.)
Bologna
Yeditepe University has been carrying on the studies of Bologna Coordination Commission in the framework of national and international competence.
Accordingly, as a result of the studies that have been conducted in our university since 2006, in 2012, the efficacy of all existing programs was determined in consideration of occupational and current standards provided by NQF-HETR. The correspondence between these standards and the learning outcomes of the courses led to a more planned and quality education.
Course schedules for all programs were prepared in pursuance of being scientific, in collaboration and transparent in education, and published on websites of the faculties.
Similar studies with regard to international standards are being carried on within the framework of scientific, dynamic and reformist notion of our university.
