This course aims to acknowledge the students with the strategies of sponsorship
and fundraising used in the culture sector of USA and to motivate them to
compare these best practices with the current financing of the arts in Turkey
Financing the Arts is one of the most intriguing problems of the culture sector
today. Sponsorship and fundraising techniques, which have been used by
especially the American cultural institutions for long years are now starting to be
the new and necessary tools that the cultural institutions are compelled to use in
Turkey as well. Sponsorship and Fundraising appear as a vital know-how that
the cultural institutions need to develop in a cultural environment where the
state funding is being continuously decreased simultaneously as the investments
of the private sector are being increased.
