The aim of this course is to investigate certain problems of ontology thoroughly throughout the history of philosophy using original texts of philosophers as source material.
An analysis of the theories of being, an identification of the philosophers who made distinctions between concepts such as universal, particular, essence, existence, reality, appearance, substance, attribute, etc., and the ways in which they had made those distinctions. An evaluation of the different perspectives on the problems corresponding to these distinctions. The ontological views of philosophers like Plato, Aristotle, Descartes, Locke, Leibniz, Hume, Kant.
