Elective List

In many countries including Turkey about ten percent of the population are disabled, in addition many elderly are vulnerable and have difficulty in many indoor and outdoor activities. Architecture is one of the major considerations to free or handicap people having various disabilities. Many features of built environment need to be considered taking into account the special needs of those people. Thus, this course aims to analyze/examine and teach the architects principles of barrier free design and features of various types of buildings or institutions especially used or inhabited by the elderly or handicapped people.
