Course Description
History of Prehistoric Civilizations (Mesopotamia, Egypt, Anatolia, Minoan, Mycenae), Classical Period (Greek, Roman), Gothic architecture, Islamic architecture, Seljuk and Ottoman architecture, Renaissance architecture, Baroque architecture, Neo-classical architecture supported by written and visual documents. respectively and through examples. The industrial revolution and the post-industrial era are examined through its design features. Neoclassicism, Revivalism, Eclecticism, Avant-garde movements, Modernist and Postmodernist approaches, High-Tech architecture and Deconstructivism are discussed through the period characteristics and their effects on the built environment.
