The History Department offers a Masters Degree program in English for students of various disciplines. Areas of study include Turkic, Ottoman, Modern Turkish, Eastern Mediterranean and Middle Eastern studies.
Candidates who pass the written and oral exams are admitted to the program and are required to complete 24 credits in order to graduate the masters program with thesis. In order to graduate from the masters program without thesis, the candidates are required to complete 36 credits. Those who are not admitted to the masters program with thesis can graduate the program by taking an additional elective course in lieu of HIST 502 course, along with four additional elective courses.
Seminars and Thesis are non-credit. Our students will take two compulsory courses and two electives every semester, complete their theses successfully. At the end of one academic year, they will obtain their diplomas. Candidates who are not considered qualified by the Evaluation Jury on the basis of Scientific Preparation Level will be admitted to the program, provided that they take and pass the undergraduate courses which suit their own areas of interest.
