Course Description
The aim in this course is to present modeling and analysis of real dynamic phenomena through the use of systems theory. Both discrete and continuous-time systems will be covered, emphasis being on the former. The following topics are included in the course: models of multivariable systems; state equations and their solutions; concepts of stability, controllability, and observability; nonlinear systems and digital simulation; Markov chains and stochastic systems. Applications in diverse areas, such as mechanics, entropy and thermodynamics, population dynamics, epidemics, competitive economic equlibria, genetics, etc. will be discussed throughout the course. Students will be expected to prepare and present research papers
