BIOGRAPHY
Banu Uğural was born in Ankara. She went to primary school in Helsinki, continued secondary and high school in Ankara. She graduated from the National College of Art and Design in Dublin, where she graduated with a first class honours degree from the textile design department.
She worked in the ready-to-wear fashion industry for ten years; where she also was the chief designer for men’s non-denim collection at Mavi.
She completed her master’s degree in cultural management at Istanbul Bilgi University. In order to draw attention to waste and to spread the concept of ‘upcycling’, she conducted workshops for children around schools in different villages and cities of Turkey with her project ‘Atma Kullan'(Don’t Throw Away Use).
She had the chance to participate in the ‘Mamut Art Project’ in 2018 and in various group exhibitions in Ireland in 2019.
Currently, she teaches social responsibility and circular design at Yeditepe University, Faculty Fine Arts’ graphic design department to masters and doctorate students in Istanbul.
Today, Banu continues to produce art in Istanbul.
