Our department member Assist. Prof. Ferzan Durul wrote the first chapter of the new book, ‘The Culture that Shaped us: Introduction to Social and Cultural Anthropology’, the purpose of which is to introduce the basic subjects, concepts, history, theories and methods of the social and cultural anthropology. In the chapter, ‘Anthropology: Culmination of Humanism,’ Durul assesses the definitions of anthropology considering the philosophical accounts to enlighten the puzzle, ‘What is human?’.
