Course Objectives: 

The aim of the seminar is to give students an overview of the history of art exhibitions from the 18th century until now. For this, the class will experience how during the evolution of modern art, the exhibition of art became more and more connected to its exhibition. In the end, the students will be comfortable and knowledgeable in the field of exhibition-management, its’ niches and prerogatives. Next to theories of art and exhibition management, case studies and student presentations will create a connection to practice.

Course Content: 

Next to contemporary exhibition theories, students will get a deep insight view in the required techniques of an exhibition manager. Various theoretical issues will be illustrated by various case studies of exhibition spaces in Istanbul and abroad. Every Student wil review one Exhibition and present it in class.
