Course Objectives: 

To generate analyzing methods on 600-year tradition of Divan Literature in consideration of modern approaches and to make students very competent on Divan tradition.

Course Content: 

The purpose of this course is to read Classical Ottoman Literature through literary theories and to situate it within the perspectives of sociology and history. In doing so, the course aims to interpret the current reflections and cues of classical texts. In the course, there will be excerpting from numerous literary texts, mainly Ottoman poetry samples, from 12th century to 19th, and those samples will be analyzed through psychoanalytical, post-modern and feminism (gender) theories.
