Course Objectives: 

The aim of the course is to analyze and evaluate periodical publications featured from 19th century to recent times in terms of Turkish literature and culture.

Course Content: 

The increasing momentum of Westernization (modernization) in the beginning of the 20th century felt its impact in all aspects of life. Newspapers and magazines played the most significant role in this period; they had profound effect in both broadening our universe of thought and reshaping our literature. Newspapers and magazines further kept this role on in the remainder of the 20th century. In this course, we will essentially address the question of how this modernization process has affected our literature. We will also investigate the role of current mass media in guiding our literature.
